GIZ-CPS and UnYPhil-Women conducts joint Strategic Planning workshop

aCOTABATO CITY: May 23, 2014 GIZ-Civil Peace Service and UnYPhil-Women (United Youth of the Philippines-Women) conducted a joint Strategic Planning workshop facilitated by Esther Scharf of GIZ-Civil Peace Service, Advisor of Institute for Peace and Development in Mindanao (IPDM), Mindanao State University, Iligan City.

The workshop aimed to review identified goals of cooperation between UnYPhil-Women and GIZ-Civil Peace Service, discuss and develop a joint strategic plan for 2014 to 2015 and the roles and responsibilities of the each organization and personnel, and lastly to discuss procedures and mechanism for cooperation.

The cooperation between UnYPhil-Women and GIZ-Civil Peace Service started in 2012 up to date to contribute on the meaningful participation of women on the Bangsamoro peace process and constructive involvement of civil society organization specifically on the following overall objectives:

  • People (especially LGU, women and youth) in the Bangsamoro core territory and adjacent areas discuss controversial topics (especially gender related issues) in the context of the Bangsamoro Peace Process in adequate public spaces for dialogue and information sharing. They know causes and consequences of the conflict, are informed about the progress ancd challenges in the peace process, and are familiar with possible non-violent resolutions of emergent conflicts.
  • Civil society and state institutions/organizations (mainly in the future Bangsamoro and adjacent areas) actively engage in the transition process towards the autonomous region of Bangsamoro and implement projects in conflict and gender sensitive way.

GIZ-CPS is German Development Corporation funded by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). That seconds peace and conflict consultants to both local civil society organization and state institutions to advance the interests of marginalized and underrepresented groups.

The participants from GIZ-Civil Peace Service were Dr. Matthias Osterle, Program Coordinator, Raife Janke CPS International Expert/Peacebuilbding and gender adviser of UnYPhil-Women and from UnyPhil-Women includes Ms. Noraida Abo Executive Director, Hasna Adi-Advocacy Officer and CPS local counterpart, Frenz Laureta Research, Documentation, Publication and Information Officer, Rasol Pangansalan, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer/Field Coordinator, Sandra Abu Admin Officer, Maisalam Tahir Project Officer (Cordaid), Hunyn Abu Project Officer (Respect Education), (UNHCR), and Joelaida Juanday, Field Facilitator (MCPN).
