A mapping project entitled “Identifying Early Recovery Support to Displaced Families of Barangays in Cotabato City and Sultan Kudarat Municipality” is being implemented by United Youth of the Philippines – Women (UnYPhil-Women), Inc. with support from UNHCR and which has initial project duration of 3 months.

The project covered six (6) barangays in the Municipality of Sultan Kudarat and eight (8) barangays in Cotabato City.

The target population planning groups for this project are those IDPs hwho have been displaced due to the different series of GRP-MILF armed conflict and are currently living in or around Cotabato City.

To date, there is no profile or documentation available yet on how these displaced population afford themselves of protection and services due them to meet a dignified living following the all-out-war in 2000 (Estrada Administration), Buliok complex attack in 2003, and sporadic skirmishes from July 2008 to 2009 as triggered by the non-signing of the MOA-AD of the GRP-MILF in Kuala Lumpur.

Target beneficiaries are expectedly coming from the municipalities of Cotabato province and the municipalities of Maguindanao that have been sites of actual armed encounters, bombardment, and/or shelling between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
